Well, the date night went well. We saw Young Victoria which I enjoyed. Prior to that we took in an Indian cuisine restaurant which was very good also.
This morning we took a tram to the top of a hill where the Oregon Health Sciences University is located which provides a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and hills.
Avery dawned her tutu and danced all the way through This Is It ....... very cute. While the dvd played I prepared lentils, brown rice and an assortment of veggies. We're going to eat right after I finish this blog.
I'll probably leave around noon tomorrow. We'll swing by Reed College for a look/see and then mosey on down to the bus station. I plan on packing a full rubber maid carton full of leftovers which should last me through the trip.
Here's hoping my easy does it meal turns out well.

Portland Visit
I arrived yesterday without any hitches. I left Oceanside the night before and smoothly made all of my connections which made the flight arrival time into Portland perfect. I love to dabble with connections all the while knowing that my trips are essentially free.
Avery is now quite agile with her walking and she loves to work with her "applications"(read that as computer play), while Megan is doing her thing in the office.
A short while ago the three of us picked up some vegan food to go from a food court in some funky section of Portland. Portland is so cool, because rain is just an accepted kind of thing. Life goes on without regard to precipitation.
Tonight, I am being treated as a special guest of Megan and Damian's "date night"...who knows what movie we'll take in. Tomorrow night all four of us will watch This Is It. I can hardly wait to watch Avery's reaction to Michael Jackson's dancing and singing.
Sunday we'll visit the campus of Reed College. I've always been intrigued by Reed simply because Gary Snyder and Lou Welch attended back in the 50's.
Things are going swimmingly well.

February 13th 2010
It's a beautiful crisp sunny day. I've finished a scrumptious brunch and full of coffee so I'm ready to go.
Feb. 10th was my first year of sobriety. I took a token celebration a day later at the meeting where I am secretary. A boyhood friend of mine, John Smith and another friend from the Kaiser program, came to share the moment. I really do have some kind loving friends in and out of this program.
Tomorrow I'll visit the abbey and beginning on Feb.17th I'll practice three positive things on a daily basis in observance of Lent. Still haven't actually listed them for approval, but I'll have to make them realistic and doable.
I'll go up to Vegas for an overnight Feb 15th. I have to collect on my Saints win( 25/1 for $125) and then plunk down some bets for the 2011 Super Bowl.
I'm going with the following:
$5 longshots: Giants 20/1, Packers 12/1, Panthers 40/1, 49ers 45/1, Jets 25/1, Browns 100/1, Texans 35/1, Titans 25/1
Joy and I will drive to Roseville, CA on the 19th and return on the 23rd. Hopefully we'll watch a Nebraska vs. Fresno State baseball game on our return trip. We're planning to stay over in Fresno for the night. I'll fly into Portland for a visit on Feb 25th and return somewhere around the March 1st.
My garden seeds are in the mail so my garden will be planted shortly. Nancy helped me this morning by digging a gigantic hole next to the raised garden.
So that's about the whole of the goings on around here. Oh, while John Smith was here we went to the golf driving range and hit a bucket of balls. My shoulder didn't pop or crack the whole time! So I'm planning to take up golf on a limited basis.
Everybody reading this have a blessed day.
